What Customers Say About Philips MCM298 CD/MP3/WMA Micro Hi-Fi System:

They're dead. Purchased this good looking item about 2 years ago. Total amount of hours playing MP3 disks will probably not exceed 25-30(). Literally: "You are out off the warranty, have a good life".Bottom line:1 do not buy this product.2 if you plan to purchase any Philips product - good luck, but don't expect to get useful help from their Help Line or Customer Service.

Understanding that my warranty has expired, I gave a call to the Philips CS expecting to get ANY help, such as (at least) info on their certified repair center or something. Skipping details, I have to admit that I was treated (Ref.# 7K818) as I'm a biggest looser on this planet. There are more malfunctions.Of course when I purchased it, I thought "Philips" - that's the Name. There are problems with opening and closing the tray's doors: they wont close until I push system's Off button.

First, I realized it takes longer to change and read disks. I have to try to reboot system repeatedly. Used very seldom, mostly radio. Disks on the left side may work 2-3 times out of 10.

Finally, the disk-trays on the right side (disks 3 and 4) completely stopped working. hours. Then mechanical noise started appear nearly each start of any of 4 disk-trays.

the sound is a little tweety, not as full as i'd like, but thats to be expected from many flat systems w/o subs, i really like the looks and lights, and the functions are plenty This was a refurbished version, but it works well all the same, although the right cd tray now sticks, and needs to be given a nudge before it will open/close.

It's cute. Not to be used in a large room. Not the best bang for your buck. This stylish system is lacking in sound quality.

Might be because it's "Refurbished." I don't know. It's a pretty stereo, but it has not played right since i took it out of the box. CD's skip, get stuck constantly.

This is a good choice for those who are looking for a moderately priced system with great functionality and/or those who dislike other, more imposing systems that require more space when set up. Like those reviewers before me, I agree that it's a very easy system to set-up. The sound is very clean and clear with no distortion at higher volume levels.
